Shockwave Therapy: Treating Injuries One Calcium Deposit at a Time


"Doctors could be looking at shockwave therapy, officially called extracorporeal shockwave therapy, as a viable non-invasive alternative treatment for shoulder pain. Analysis of 28 studies by experts at Tufts Medical Center in Boston showed that the treatment was effective in remedying rotator cuff injuries, a common cause of shoulder pain. Yet in an interview with CBS Boston, Dr. Raveendhara Bannuru said shockwave therapy for shoulder pain seems to be more effective for treating calcified rotator cuffs."
