Do
you hate having to take pills just to cull the pain in your body? Do
you wish for a non-invasive form of treatment to manage your pain?
Well, companies like OrthospecTM has heard your calls and came up
with their Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy device, which was
approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 1,
2005 as an alternative to pain management surgeries.
This
device allows chiropractors to relieve your pain by sending high
energy acoustic waves to a certain spot on your body. Without going
into specifics, the device works by sending acoustic wave energy to
your body; hopefully inciting tissue regeneration, particularly on
your muscles, and thus eliminating the pain. Shockwave therapy is
known to help treat people with heel spur and plantar fasciitis,
epicondylitis, and even kidney stones.
While
the technology is fairly new, the FDA is convinced of its
effectiveness in relieving pain. That said, they also say that you
should think very carefully if you want to undergo shockwave therapy
or not. This is because this type of treatment can cause minor
swelling and bruising on the skin. In addition, shockwave therapy
isn’t recommended by the FDA if you have a skin infection or a
potentially malignant tumor on your skin, for fear of causing serious
side effects.
